Shuteye Unison

Shuteye Unison is an experimental inde rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, known for crafting expansive, textured soundscapes that blur the lines between post-rock, shoegaze, and indie rock. Formed in the late 2000s by members of The Rum Diary and other Bay Area bands, featuring Daniel McKenzie, Jon Fee, Jake Krohn, and former members Remco Vander Heide, Schuyler Feekes and Jon Latimer, blends layered guitars, dynamic rhythms, and atmospheric vocals to create a sound that’s immersive and emotionally resonant.

Shuteye Unison released their self-titled debut album in 2008, mixed by Pall Jenkins of Three Mile Pilot and The Black Heart Procession, showcasing a mix of dreamy melodies and explosive crescendos. Their 2010 follow-up album, Our Future Selves, further pushed their sonic boundaries, adding synth textures and tighter song structures while maintaining their signature blend of mood and volume.

After a decade-long hiatus, they released their final album, Heavy Crush, in 2025. The album oscillates between shimmering atmospherics and melodic clarity breaking through the haze. The band leans deeper into post-rock textures while introducing electronic beats and synthesizers. This shift doesn’t dilute their signature intensity—it amplifies it, creating a more subtle, yet still dynamic, sonic palette.
